they are needy, clingy and selfish. nothing comes after the perfunctory how-are-you. well, sometimes there is, but quicker than you can go to your second paragraph, the spotlight is back on them.
then there are those who are simply in need of company. your heart goes out to them and instinctively you want to help.
most of the time, the good Lord sprinkles your life page with inconspicuous beings. they wont make a big impact on your life but they are there because you need them to. consider them as your consolation prize for the dense parasites sucking you dry.
once in a while, you come across a rare breed of people whose souls wonderfully sway to the same rhythm as yours. a smile, a look, or quiet time together can be the antidote to the toxicity of life. and it works both ways.
and then there are those people whom you have shared so much with but because of the unavoidable strain of growing apart have become virtual strangers. only when this hits you do you realize that, yes, it was good. emphasis on "was" - past tense. and then melancholia sets in because
